FOTON is back – and it’s bringing serious muscle. – April 2025 Update

The all-new FOTON Tunland Ute makes its official Australian debut at the Melbourne Motor Show this weekend, 6 & 7 April – and it’s here to make a statement.

Arriving in Q3 2025, the Tunland V series is ready to shake up the local Ute scene. This is where FOTON flexes its global commercial vehicle and truck expertise. Transforming every job and every adventure into a powerhouse of rugged reliability and versatile performance.

The designers built the all-new Tunland range tough from the ground up for those who demand more from their Ute.. More strength, more capability, more presence. Whether it’s heavy towing, off-road exploring, or weekday work, Tunland delivers.

The all-new Tunland range will feature two variants:

Tunland V7 is a no-nonsense workhorse available in both 2WD and 4WD. It’s practical, durable, and ready to get stuck in.

Both models are powered by a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine paired with a 48V hybrid system. Offering a braked towing capacity of up to 3,500kg. FOTON’s global know-how in building tough commercial vehicles backs these Utes, which are engineered to go the distance.

Further enhancing its exceptional capabilities, the all-new Tunland features the advanced BorgWarner Electronic selectable 4WD System. This intuitive technology helps ensure superior traction, simplified with a one-button switch to effortlessly engage tailored 4WD modes. Torque amplification technology guarantees enhanced power distribution and optimal performance across varied terrains. All while preserving fuel economy.

The innovative SANY eMixer, supported by Putzmeister. Represents a significant leap forward in the construction industry’s journey towards a carbon-neutral construction site. The eMixer has been launched under the SANY brand, supported by Putzmeister.

Cyril Giraud, Head of Sustainability at Holcim Australia and New Zealand said. “At Holcim, our commitment to sustainability is embedded in our core strategy and drives us to continuously improve and innovate. Working in partnership with our suppliers to reduce carbon emissions. Across our transportation and logistics can go a long way in helping us reach our sustainability goals.”

Developing the SANY eMixer for Australian Standards

To meet local requirements, Putzmeister Oceania partnered with the experts at Cesco Australia to manufacture an Australian-made mixer structure on a SANY SY408P Electric Chassis, integrated with locally designed and accepted controls. The outcome? A 100% electric, globally developed, locally manufactured, battery-powered mixer truck.

The SANY eMixer is a specialised vehicle designed to transport concrete from the batching plant to the construction site safely, reliably, and efficiently. By operating 100% electrically, it enables transportation and concrete delivery, to be carried out entirely without emissions.

Holcim – eMixer Capabilities

The SANY eMixer introduces innovative features that set a new standard in the construction industry. At its core is a powerful 350 kWh battery from CATL. A leading global battery manufacturer known for its partnership with industry leaders like Tesla, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

Kevin Peet, Regional Logistics Manager, Concrete Vic/SA, Holcim said. “The performance of the truck and the efficiency of the battery will be tested under the unique operating constraints of ready-mix concrete distribution in metro and urban environments.”

The mixer drum, crafted by Cesco Australia, a renowned local manufacturer of concrete mixers, guarantees high quality and durability, ensuring it can withstand the rigours of daily use.

Charging the SANY eMixer is both flexible and convenient. It can be fully charged overnight with a 30-kW charger or rapidly charged in just 3 hours, ensuring it’s always ready for the demands of daily operations.

Meanwhile, the vehicle’s advanced design not only reduces noise levels but also enhances mileage and efficiency, making it an ideal choice for urban construction projects across Australia.

SANY Concrete & Road Machinery Sales Manager, William Liang says “The eMixer typically has lower operating costs than its diesel counterparts. It is more energy-efficient and requires less maintenance, which could result in significant cost savings over the vehicle’s lifetime. This not only makes it a smart financial choice but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability and innovation in the construction industry.”

Holcim Trial Insights So Far

During the early days of the trial, the SANY eMixer has already demonstrated its impressive capabilities. By covering multiple trips from the plant to job sites, completing each day with an average 35% state of charge remaining.

Holcim is the first company to trial the SANY eMixer in Australia. Both parties are closely monitoring the trial’s progress to evaluate the potential of the SANY eMixer in contributing to more sustainable operating practices at Holcim.

The SANY eMixer is not just a technological marvel. It is the first road-registered, 100% electric 8 x 4 mixer in Australia, presenting a milestone in sustainable construction.

Chris Bartlett, Head of Construction at Putzmeister Oceania, says. “The development of the SANY eMixer specifically for the Australian market has been a significant investment for Putzmeister Oceania. This project is a key addition to our portfolio of low and zero-emission equipment.

We are leading the way in supporting a more sustainable construction industry with the SANY eMixer. And the recent introduction of the Putzmeister iONTRON hybrid concrete pump, the first of its kind in the market. Soon, we will add more exciting zero-emission products to our range of SANY and Putzmeister construction equipment. Committing to delivering the best solutions, designed, developed, and manufactured specifically for Australian conditions.”

Foton previously showed the way with an 8-year/300,000km power battery warranty. Which will now be extended by 100,000km, while the standard vehicle warranty will extend by 3-year/200,000km.

Meanwhile, all Foton T5 truck owners will continue to receive additional security. Via NTI Truck Assist’s 24/7 roadside assistance offering for 5-year/200,000km.

Available from a dealer network stretching from Cairns to Perth, the Foton T5 model line-up is currently led by the T5 EV. Which has dominated the pure-battery-powered truck sales race since its local launch.

Foton T5 is the worldwide leader in new energy commercial transport, with an offering that has been proven in the field with many leading users.

“We are incredibly proud of the Foton T5 range, so the decision to offer the best warranty in the Australian truck marketplace is simple,” said Neil Wang, Foton Mobility Distribution Founder and CEO.

“Obviously, the warranty demonstrates the high quality of our products and gives owners extra peace of mind.

“However, this move also provides a range of additional benefits and breaks down entry barriers for companies looking to make the switch to pure electric transport.

“Fleets can plan their servicing costs over an 8-year period, which extends to total cost of ownership benefits and better resale value.

“Financing and insurance will be easier to obtain, and Foton T5 owners can plan their future with greater confidence.

“A growing number of Australian businesses are finding the real value benefits of transitioning to new energy solutions, with the Foton T5 truly at the forefront.”

Foton T5 leading point of difference

The Foton T5’s leading point of difference is its unique 3,500kg braked towing capacity. Making it highly adaptable and capable of slotting into more fleet applications seamlessly.

A leading example of the model in use is the ready-to-go T5 EV tipper. Featuring an Australian-made steel tipper body, making it ideal for use in municipalities and by landscaping companies.

Another strength of the package is its flexibility. With the model available with a rated GVM of 4,500kg for car licence operation. Or 6,000kg for light rigid licenced drivers, with either option allowing for towing.

From a financial perspective, the T5 truck features around 20 per cent lower upfront and operating costs.

Uptime isn’t compromised for the package, with DC fast charging allowing for full recharging in 1.5 hours. Or alternatively, the standard 11kW AC onboard charger can fully recharge the drive battery in just 7.2 hours. Allowing for overnight turnarounds.

The Foton T5 has a fully loaded range of 200 kilometres.

While also offering a full safety suite, including:

a Low-Speed Pedestrian Warning System,

a comprehensive electronic braking and stability support package,

dual SRS airbags,

as well as a reversing radar and buzzer.

Foton T5’s new warranty offering is available from September 1st, 2024, with servicing terms and conditions applicable.

Uptime isn’t compromised for the model, with DC fast charging allowing for full recharging in 1.5 hours, or alternatively, the standard 11kW AC onboard charger can fully recharge the drive battery in just 7.2 hours, allowing for overnight turnarounds.

The worldwide leader in new energy commercial transport, Foton has led the way around the globe with products that have been proven in the field as dependable and reliable.

The extended warranty is now available on all new orders, dealer stock and demonstrator models, with the Foton T5 EV model also featuring a 5-year/200,000km general vehicle warranty.

“We are particularly proud of the Foton T5 EV, which has quickly taken a decisive sales lead in the all-electric light truck space,” said Bill Gillespie, Foton Mobility Distribution’s General Manager of Light Duty Vehicles.

“Around the world, Foton dominates the alternate fuels space with over 22,000 units produced last year alone, and with this worldwide expertise, we can stand by our products with this extended power battery warranty.

“Looking at the EV market here in Australia, this offering easily exceeds any other similar support available, allowing Foton owners to be sure they are investing in high-quality, yet affordable technology.

“Furthermore, the trucks are backed by a nationwide dealer network from Cairns to Perth, and are supported by 24/7 roadside assistance, as provided by industry leader NTI Truck Assist.”

Foton T5 EV leading point of difference

The Foton T5 EV’s leading point of difference is its unique for EV3, 500kg braked towing capacity, making it highly adaptable, and capable of slotting into more fleet applications seamlessly.

A leading example of the model in use is the ready-to-go T5 EV tipper, featuring an Australian-made steel tipper body, making it ideal for use in municipalities and landscaping.

Another strength of the package is its flexibility, with the model available with a rated GVM of 4,500kg for car licence operation, or 6,000kg for light rigid licenced drivers, with either option allowing for towing.

From a financial perspective, the T5 EV features around 20 per cent lower upfront and operational expenditure costs, with line items such as diesel being a thing of the past.

Uptime is not compromised for the package, with DC fast charging allowing for full recharging in 1.5 hours, or alternatively, the standard 11kW AC onboard charger can fully recharge the drive battery in just 7.2 hours, allowing for overnight turnarounds.

The T5 EV has a fully loaded range of 180km, while also offering a full safety suite, including a Low-Speed Pedestrian Warning System, a comprehensive electronic braking and stability support package, dual SRS airbags, as well as a reversing radar and buzzer.

To be eligible for the new power battery warranty, all vehicle servicing is required to be completed according to the owner’s handbook service schedule.

The model’s leading point of difference is its unique for EV 3,500kg braked towing capacity, making it a practical alternative for municipalities, landscape companies, infrastructure support, construction specialists and more.

Another strength of the package is its adaptability, with the model available with a rated GVM of 4,500kg for car licence operation, or 6,000kg for light rigid licenced drivers, with either option allowing for towing.

Featuring an Australian-made steel tipper body, the Foton T5 EV is available for quick delivery from Foton Mobility Distribution’s nationwide network of dealerships.

Here at Foton Mobility Distribution, we are particularly proud of the T5 EV Tipper, as it combines the positive attributes of going all-electric, while also providing the performance and towing capabilities that are required in the real world,” said Bill Gillespie, Foton Mobility Distribution’s General Manager – Light Duty Vehicles.

“From a financial standpoint, it makes a lot of sense, as the model allows for a genuinely affordable entry into the EV tipper market, with 20 per cent lower upfront and operational expenditure costs.

Foton T5 EV Tipper global

“While Foton Mobility Distribution’s EV truck offering is new to Australia, it comes with impressive credentials from markets around the globe.

“Last year alone, Foton led the world in producing over 22,000 new energy commercial vehicles, and with that number continually growing, purchasers can be confident that they are receiving a proven package.

“In the short time that we have been on sale here in Australia, we have claimed leadership in the pure-EV truck sales race, and with the T5 EV Tipper, we are looking to continue that growth.”

Outside of the tipper application, the Foton T5 EV can be configured for practically any final application in the light-duty field.
