The Y joins HiPhi’s dual flagship models, the X ‘Super SUV’ and Z ‘Digital GT’, inspired by their bold styling and visionary technologies.

Attended by media, VIPs and current HiPhi users, the event was opened by HiPhi Founder, David Ding, who gave a personal introduction to the Y. Intended as a luxury mainstream model, the Y follows the same LuxTech philosophy as the X and Z. It brings a number of first-in-class features, including the revolutionary second-generation no-touch automatic wing-opening doors, the robotic arm-mounted infotainment screen and the active all-wheel-steering.

All this high-tech equipment and more is standard across the HiPhi Y range, which consists of Flagship, Long Range, Elite and Pioneer versions. The Long Range model comes equipped with a 115kWh battery and can travel up to 810km (CLTC) on a single charge, pushing the limits of long-distance EV ability. The standard battery is 76.6kWh, giving up to 560km (CLTC) of range.

Four-wheel, dual motor versions have peak power of up to 371kW, allowing for acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. Rear-wheel-drive single motor versions have peak power of 247kW. At the same time,  is equipped with advanced front double wishbone suspension and rear five-link suspension. A chassis integrated control system uniformly deploys various actuators to achieve the best body control at all times, while the active all-wheel-steering provides stability at high speeds and additional agility at low speeds.

HiPhi Y is the ultimate hi-tech mid-size SUV, featuring an interior equipped with three advanced screens, including a 17-inch OLED center display, 15-inch HD front passenger touch screen and 12.3-inch full LCD instrument screen. All models also receive a 22.9-inch HD color heads-up display and a 9.2-inch streaming media rearview mirror. Behind the front passenger touch screen is a HiPhi Box high-performance computer equipped with a Qualcomm 8250 chip, able to support media casting and Bluetooth connectivity for a keyboard and mouse.

HiPhi Y is also equipped with a Meridian Audio System, featuring up to 25 speakers throughout the car, including two speakers only for the driver. The maximum power output of the amplifier platform is 2,820W and the system has 7.1.4 surround sound.

The HiPhi Y is available to order now, with examples already delivered to HiPhi Hub showrooms all over China. Customers in Europe will also be able to order a HiPhi Y before the end of 2023, with first deliveries in 2024.

Shanghai Auto Show

Two cities in Europe have been confirmed as the sites of the first HiPhi Hubs, or showrooms. Inspired by the Hubs already established in China, these new experience centers will be opened in Munich, Germany and Oslo, Norway. Germany is the largest BEV market in Europe and nearly 80 per cent of cars sold in Norway during 2022 were BEVs. The physical hubs will work alongside a new global website (https://www.hiphi.com) and the upcoming HiPhi app.

The HiPhi X Super SUV has already received European Union Individual Vehicle Approval, with the HiPhi Z Digital GT to follow shortly. This milestone will allow for both cars to be sold in key European markets as a first step into markets outside of home country, China. HiPhi X is already the best-selling luxury EV domestically.

The HiPhi X Super SUV features a number of world and industry firsts, blending cutting-edge technology with luxury and advanced design, including an intelligent automatic door system with wings. The HiPhi Z, meanwhile, brings innovations like the Bot featuring a robotic arm holding an infotainment screen with four degrees of freedom and eight-direction high-speed motion. The HiPhi Z went into production in late 2022. Both cars use advanced battery technology and efficient motors to deliver over 600km of all-electric range (CLTC).

With orders live imminently for both X and Z in Europe, and the first customers receiving their cars before the end of the year, the next stage of HiPhi’s global expansion comes with the Y, revealed this week at the Shanghai Auto Show. Fully designed and engineered with global markets in mind, it will mark an acceleration in volumes and an even broader expansion into Europe. The first customer orders will be taken by the end of 2023, with  Y deliveries in Europe expected in 2024.

So far, Y has completed multiple engineering tests, including winter testing, with mass production preparations progressing quickly. Its wing-opening doors, advanced technologies and powerful, efficient all-electric powertrain are inspired by dual flagship models

The approval marks a first step into European markets for HiPhi, which was first established in December 2017.  

The HiPhi X Super SUV features a number of world and industry firsts, blending cutting-edge technology with luxury and advanced design. Key technologies include the PML programmable headlights able to project images or even movies and an intelligent automatic door system. In light of these features, the HiPhi X is often regarded as being ‘a car of the future’.

Its powertrain combines 220kW dual motors front and rear, allowing for 0-62mph (100km/h) in 3.9 seconds, and with motor efficiency of 97.2% – among the best in its class. A 97kWh battery pack provides a range of 650km in the Extended Range versions under CLTC conditions.

Each HiPhi X version comes with luxurious appointments like a 17-speaker Meridian audio system, a 19.9-inch entertainment screen purely for the front passenger and a customizable smart fragrance system. HiPhi X is available in six-seat or even more luxurious four-seat configuration, including a smart refrigerator, 8-inch rear high-definition touch screens and fully adjustable executive airline-style seats.

The vehicle approval and homologation process undertaken by TÜV SÜD ensures that HiPhi X adheres to European standards and regulations. This includes analysis of the battery management system, chassis control, brakes, steering and active systems such as park assist and radar-guided cruise control. TÜV SÜD also undertook stringent EMC testing to ensure HiPhi X and its high-voltage components don’t interfere with the ambient electromagnetic environment. “The homologation was crucial in enabling HiPhi products access to the European market”, said Stefan Merkl, Vice President Automotive at TÜV SÜD. Moreover, TÜV SÜD completed the EU Homologation for the HiPhi X in record time.

Within four years since it was founded, Human Horizons has transformed the automotive landscape in China, with the first model – the HiPhi X – outselling premium competition. Its blend of striking design, world-class technologies and automotive engineering will soon be available to customers in Europe for the very first time. The brand’s European plans begin with HiPhi X, but soon the second flagship model, the HiPhi Z, will follow.

The HiPhi Z, first introduced in 2022, is a Digital GT fully electric coupé. It is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph (100kmh) in 3.8 seconds and – with its 120kWh battery pack – can travel 705km on a single charge (CLTC). It again introduces revolutionary technologies, including HiPhi Bot, featuring the first robotic arm in the industry, which holds the central infotainment screen and is adjustable in four degrees of freedom/eight directions. The choice of the technical service conducting the test for first European Vehicle Approval was very carefully considered. Due to the high complexity of the HiPhi products and the strict laws of vehicle safety in Europe, it was important to have a competent and critical third party technical service provider known for their expertise and attention to detail, while at the same time meeting HiPhi’s standards and ambitious timeline. 

At the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18, HiPhi will reveal an all-new third model, HiPhi Y, designed and engineered with global markets in mind.

HiPhi CTO and Co-Founder Mark Stanton said: “Receiving the necessary test reports from TÜV SÜD for the European vehicle approval is not only an important step forward in our carefully considered plans for launching in Europe, but it’s also a reinforcement of the meticulous standards to which HiPhi products are engineered. European road safety standards are among the strictest in the world, and the homologation by TÜV SÜD confirms that HiPhi X meets these standards.”
