Jolion HEV – Last week I drove the Haval Jolion HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), and I have to say it was a pleasant car to drive.

Looking for premium buyers the Jolion HEV comes with a premium interior, connectivity and safety features found on the current Jolion Ultra grades

Outside the Jolion HEV features LED headlights and foglights, revised bumpers, rear spoiler and 18 inch alloy wheels.

Inside is e-where the surprise is. It’s comfortable and surprisingly spacious. We had five adults on board and all had enough leg room. The rear seat leg room just may be best in class.

There are some touches of luxury with heated front seats, 12.3 inch central touch screen, 360 degree camera and one touch electric windows all around.

Jolion HEV features a 1.5L Hybrid engine combined with the Dedicated Hybrid Transmission to provide both high-efficiency and high-performance with a combined Power output of 139 kW, 375 Nm of torque and an average fuel consumption of 5.0L/100km.

At no stage did I feel the performance was lacking and it was responsive. The transmission was a little jerky at times though.

Pricing for the Jolion HEV is $40,990 drive away and that is outstanding value.

GWM Dedicated Hybrid Technology Overview

GWM Dedicated Hybrid Technology (DHT) is a core technology route in GWM’s electrification roadmap which provides both high-efficiency and high-performance at the same time. DHT is aimed to provide solutions for both urban driving and interstate long distance driving.

1.5L hybrid engine

Engine power-70kW,torque-125N·m

Motor power-110kW,torque-250N·m

Max power-139kW,Max torque-375N·m

0~100km/h speed up takes 8.2 seconds

Highly integrated DHT

Three modes

Electric Vehicle

Hybrid electric

Petrol only

2 motors – 2 gears – 6 modes

Highly integrated industry design: Smaller size, lighter weight, higher transmission efficiency, excellent NVH performance and greater reliability.

Gears:P,R,N,D1,D2
1 low speed ratio for high speed cruise, more economical
2 large speed ratio for engine direct drive and overtakes

Dual motor topological structure to realize multiple optimal working modes under different load capacity

DHT Modes

EV drive:

Disconnection of engine powertrain, Battery powers TM

TM efficiently transmits power to wheels by twostage toothed gear

35-65km/h:

Engine direct drive via DHT (low speed gear)

TM stands by, dynamically adjust engine working load

(direct drive)

>65km/h:

Economic engine direct drive via DHT (high speed
gear)

TM stands by, dynamically adjust engine working load

Full load drive:

3 power units (Engine, GM, and TM) synchronously output power

Deceleration & downhill:

Disconnection of clutch, efficiently recycle power through TM

Powertrain

“Seven-in-one” highly integrated hybrid powertrain

Highly integrated: 7 in 1 highly integrated compact design, easy to carry and arrange for the whole vehicle

High efficiency: Fixed axis gear transmission, the highest transmission efficiency ≥97%, More fuelefficient;

Smooth shift: Can realize shifting without power interruption and improve driving smoothness

Quiet NVH: The motor stator has a low-harmonic winding structure, the rotor has three-stage oblique
poles, and the gearbox adopts a high gear coincidence design. NVH excellent performance

Control integration: Integrated design of parking and shifting, electronic pump directly controls the
clutch, compact structure and better cost

HEV Battery

High-power, low-resistance, high-performance HEV battery

High-performance battery: Use CATL high-power low-resistance batteries

Large battery capacity

Super quiet: Adopt advanced silent air-cooling technology

Super discharge rate: Discharge power 70.9kW (RT, 10s, 50% SOC)

Long warranty: 8 years/Unlimited kms

Strict certification: Certified with the E-Mark

Driving Performance

The DHT platform does not pursue the highest performance at a single point but aims to maximise overall efficiency of the power system. Currently, comprehensive efficiency of the power system can reach over 50%.

Jolion H2 – Great Wall Motors are now focusing their fleet on just three models – Their Haval H6 medium sized SUV, their Great Wall Ute and their small SUV the Haval Jolion H2 which is there best-selling vehicle this year but not that much ahead of the other two.

They have now launched a hybrid version of the Jolion onto the Australian market.
