Zapp i300 Carbon Launch Edition

The i300 Carbon Launch Edition is designed and built with premium specifications, featuring unique carbon fibre fender, diamond cut wheels, a red rear spring, carbon hard carrier and a commemorative plaque with the founder’s signature. Just 1,000 units will be built.

Today also sees the launch of the new Zapp e-commerce website (www.zappev.com) which features a high-definition 3D configurator for customers to explore and build the i300, as well as order their bike.

In combination with Zapp’s boutique-style Paris flagship store, the new website marks the rollout of Zapp’s innovative drop-ship-direct-to-customer (DSDTC) sales model, which offers customers more control over how they build and order their i300, online or in-store. A “Zapper”, a franchised and trained technician, in a Zapper van will deliver and service Zapp vehicles at the location of the customer’s choice.

Swin Chatsuwan, founder and CEO of Zapp, said: “We are incredibly proud of the i300 Carbon Launch Edition. It is our expression of performance and style. With the launch of the new Zapp website, we are upholding our philosophy to make Zapp vehicles ‘easy to buy and easy to own.’ Zapp’s boutiques are relaxed places where customers can discover the product and ownership experiences in a friendly, informative, no-haggling environment. Equally, our new configurator and website have been built on simplicity and transparency for the customer.”

Zapp Paris store

The Paris store is the first of a global network of Zapp stores which will offer customers the opportunity to test ride the i300 , as well as to learn about the product.

As an antidote to the traditional automotive showroom model, Zapp experts will be on hand to introduce the i300 and all of its features and guide the customer through the online configuration and ordering process.

If a customer prefers to order online without visiting a store, they can do so on www.zappev.com. This offers price transparency and freedom of choice across the sales journey.

Zapp Easy to Buy Easy to own

The DSDTC model has been designed to uphold Zapp’s core philosophy of ensuring its vehicles are ‘easy to buy and easy to own’. Every customer will have their i300 delivered to an address of their choice. The bike will be delivered in a Zapper van by a trained Zapper, who will provide a complete handover of the i300.

Any servicing of the i300 will also be performed on-site at a location of the customer’s choice – whether at home, an office or somewhere else – by a Zapper in a Zapper van.

The Zapp i300 electric performance city bike is built around an exoskeleton architecture and powered by an advanced electric motor, enabling it to match the acceleration of high-performance motorcycles in a step-through architecture. The i300’s interior permanent magnet electric motor and carbon fibre belt drive combine to drive acceleration from 0 to 30 mph (48km/h) in just 2.3 seconds and from 0 to 50 mph (97km/h) in 5.0 seconds.

What if cities could be designed to be… y’know, better? Here’s how Europeans want to transform their cities

The cities of the 21st century have adapted to cars just as much as they have to humans. But a new international survey by Ipsos for the mobility brand Lynk & Co shows that the common wish amongst Europeans is to use vehicles more efficiently and free up urban space for more greenery. With the average car in use only 4% of the time, Lynk & Co is challenging the industry to take a new approach to disruptive mobility.

Let It Grow

Three quarters of Londoners are already, or are considering car sharing in some form. Whilst men in the capital city are more likely to borrow a friend’s car and use a car sharing service compared to women. Shareable mobility is one solution for easing congestion, decreasing vehicle standing time and maximising efficiency. It comes as mobility brand Lynk & Co seeks to explore alternative solutions to urban landscapes scarred by road and traffic requirements.

It’s London’s younger generations (aged 25-34 years old) that are the most positive toward car sharing and keen to explore simple mobility solutions.

The current landscape? A lot of parking lots

Stockholm, for instance, is covered by 550 000m2 worth of permanent parking space. That is more than 77 football fields. Lynk & Co wants to disrupt the car industry and challenge the idea that cars are possessions rather than a shared mode of transportation. Their flexible month-to-month membership model means you only have a car when you actually need it, and you can seamlessly share it with others. With fewer cars, cities could be built for humans and not cars. Citizens could enjoy greener, more vibrant, and inspiring urban environments. Almost half of Londoners would remove parking spaces in favour of more green spaces.

A new survey with over 8,000 respondents in eight European capitals; London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, Stockholm, and Brussels was conducted by Ipsos for Lynk & Co. With the report “Cities Reimagined by Lynk & Co”, the mobility company set out to learn how Europeans enjoy their cities today and how they would like to shape their cities for tomorrow. Turns out, the views differ.

Young Europeans are at the forefront

Londoners are the most likely to have a nice and polite experience with their fellow commuters (19 percent).

The attitude towards car-sharing is similar throughout the eight markets but varies when it comes to the respondents’ age. Here, the younger generation. Amongst respondents aged 25-34 years, 66 percent feel positively towards car sharing. In contrast, only 35 percent of respondents aged 55-65 years felt the same.

“With cars parked 96 percent of the time, our cities have a lot of unused potential. I feel motivated by the results of the survey, and I’m excited that the people of Europe agree with our mission of more accessible, open, and green cities. It’s time to reclaim our human space.” – Alain Visser, CEO at Lynk & Co

Fewer parking spaces, more living spaces

The most common wish across the eight cities is to replace parking spaces with more greenery (57 percent), followed by places to rest (32 percent), and wider sidewalks (28 percent). But there are a few more surprising findings. Londoners are the most art-hungry citizens and are most likely to vote for more public art, street art, and graffiti to replace parking.

The data has shown: better cities aren’t just a distant dream, they’re possible. Lynk & Co is leading a revolution in attitudes towards car ownership. By re-imagining cars to be flexible, shareable, and adapted to modern life, we create space in our cities for people.

The new BMW CE 04 opens up a new chapter in two-wheel urban mobility.

With its advanced electric drive, forward-looking design and innovative connectivity solutions, the new scooter merges transport and communication functions for a new, progressive brand of mobility in urban environments.

“The BMW CE 04 is our new electric star for the city,” said Oliver Zipse, CEO of BMW AG. “It combines an e-drive with emotion and motorcycling fun. The latest technology, and the best battery cells, which also provide power in the BMW iX. Just like the CE 04, all future new BMW Motorrad models for urban mobility will be pure electric.”

Power and ample range for city and urban adventures

With an output of 31kW (42 hp), the new BMW CE 04 has a powerful motor and delivers outstanding riding pleasure.

The classic traffic light start disciplines from 0 to 50 km/h takes just 2.7 seconds, while maximum speed is set at 120km/h, enabling rapid progress not just in the city but on main roads and the freeway.

The new BMW CE 04 has an ample battery cell capacity of 8.9kWh, providing a range of approximately 130 kilometres. This enables day-to-day emissions-free riding in the city, in an urban setting and for smaller-scale trips after work or during the weekend.

Innovative electric drive with liquid-cooled electric motor

The new BMW CE 04 has a permanent magnet electric motor with liquid cooling mounted in the frame between the battery and the rear wheel.

BMW Motorrad conducted extensive riding tests to develop a specific type of recuperation for each riding mode, giving the rider a high level of convenience.

This allows for optimum performance and riding characteristics for every road situation and personal preference.

Short charging times and charging systems based on BMW car technology

The air-cooled lithium-ion high voltage battery for the BMW CE 04 can be charged using the integrated charging device plugged into a regular household socket or via a wallbox or public charging station.

When the battery is completely flat, charging time lasts four hours and 20 minutes when using the 2.3kWh 10A charger. With the 30A quick charger, which is available as an optional extra and has an output of up to 6.9kW, charging time is reduced to just one hour and 40 minutes when the battery is flat.

If the battery level is only 20 per cent and the battery is charged to 80 per cent, charging time is just 45 minutes with the 30A quick charger.

Automatic Stability Control (ASC) enhances traction and safety

Automatic Stability Control (ASC) is fitted as standard on the BMW CE 04.

The new system is comparable with the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) system already offered on BMW motorcycles with combustion engines and limits engine torque in relation to rear wheel slip to provide additional riding safety.

Multiple riding modes cater to all styles

In developing the BMW CE 04, BMW Motorrad placed particular emphasis on providing opportunities for the rider to choose between maximum efficiency and maximum riding enjoyment.

Accordingly, the new scooter features three riding modes: ECO, Rain and Road as standard.

Directionally stable suspension with one-piece tubular steel main frame

The main frame features a strong tubular steel construction.

The front wheel is controlled by a telescopic fork with a slider tube diameter of 35 mm, while rear wheel control consists of a single-sided swing arm.

At the rear, suspension and damping are performed by a directly controlled, fully covered spring strut. The new BMW CE 04 is fitted with 120/70 R15 67H tyres at the front and 160/60 R15 56H at the rear.

Powerful braking system with latest-generation ABS Pro

At the front, a twin disc brake ensures secure deceleration supported by a single-disc system at the rear.

Standard fit BMW Motorrad ABS Pro goes even further than standard ABS with integration of a banking sensor. This system additionally controls braking during bends to further increase safety and stability.

BMW CE 04 10.25-inch TFT colour screen

The new BMW CE 04 comes fitted as standard with a 10.25-inch TFT colour screen with integrated map navigation and connectivity.

Its outstanding readability, clear menu navigation and integrated operating concept put the new BMW CE 04 at the forefront of the segment.

For the first time, the new 10.25-inch colour screen makes it possible to display a navigation map in the instrument cluster, meaning an additional display is not required.

Convenience is enhanced via fitment of storage compartments at the front and side and the helmet compartment can be operated while seated.

The BMW CE 04 also features a ventilated mobile phone charging compartment and USB-C charging port.

Powerful LED lighting units increase visibility in low light

The lighting units on the new BMW CE 04 are based on state-of-the-art LED technology and include a headlamp for high beam and low beam.

In addition to a rear LED light, the BMW CE 04 also features LED turn indicators.

Even greater safety at night is offered by the adaptive turning light, which is part of the Headlight Pro package. Both grade levels of the BMW CE 04 will be fitted with this package.

Special light functions with “Welcome” and “Good Bye” messages will also be available.

Future-oriented design and colour scheme

Many people are concerned about the uncontrolled use of more and more scooters on our footpaths. The Voi company has announced that their e-scooters will include an Artificial Intelligence system.

With high-end machine vision, sensors and AI algorithms, an e-scooter can access if it is in a heavily pedestrianised area and reduce its speed. The scooters will also detect the kind of surface or lane they are riding on (bike lane, pavement, road), and respond with appropriate measures.

https://www.anyauto.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/BTW-3376-Nov-30.mp3

Voi is also pursuing:

More of their ambassadors on the street to help people ride safely, answer questions, and monitor scooter activity.

Increased collaboration between with the police:

Continually improving their geofencing system which creates a virtual geographic boundary, enabling software to trigger a response such as limiting speed: when a mobile device enters or leaves a particular area: and

Introduce number plates on all scooters.

Whether commuting to work or riding for leisure, local residents will be able to test the benefits of e-scooters on roads, cycle lanes and tracks.

The trials are designed to help understand whether the devices reduce motor traffic, as well as their impacts on safety for their users and others. They will be strictly prohibited on pavements, will be limited to 25km/hr and riders are recommended to wear helmets.

Users will need a full or provisional car, motorcycle or moped licence to take part in the trials, and must be 16 or over. To avoid a flood of poor-quality scooters onto the streets, the regulations only cover rental schemes.

Individually owned scooters will still be illegal on public roads.

The trials are due to last for 12 months.
