Electromin and QUANTRON expand their business through a strategic long-term distribution partnership in Saudi Arabia

Electromin will promote, distribute and service Quantron AG products in Saudi Arabia with an initial focus on BEV last-mile vehicles like the QUANTRON QARGO 4 EV

QUANTRON brings in their European BEV & FCEV competence (New & Refit) while Electromin and Petromin have a Service Network of over 700 service stations and also a leading truck & bus leasing company in Saudi Arabia

Both parties continue to analyze other future strategic options and collaboration models

Electromin has entered a strategic partnership with sustainable e-mobility pioneers, Quantron AG. Electromin is a turnkey e-mobility solutions company wholly owned by the Petromin Corporation (“Petromin”), a leading mobility solutions provider in Saudi Arabia.

This collaboration combines Electromin’s expertise in the entire e-mobility ecosystem with Quantron AG’s industry expertise in the field of electrified commercial vehicles and makes QUANTRON an attractive partner for existing OEMs.

As a high-tech spin off of the renowned Haller KG, Quantron AG combines over 140 years of commercial vehicle experience with state-of-the-art e-mobility know-how. The German company not only supplies numerous customers with battery- and hydrogen-electric commercial vehicles for the long-term reduction of C02 emissions but also offers a 360° product & solution ecosystem regarding zero-emission mobility with Quantron-as-a-service.

Electromin is a technology-driven e-mobility solutions provider offering complete turnkey solutions which includes in-depth consultation, ongoing network operation and maintenance. Electromin’s main focus of action is throughout the Middle East and is building a public charging network that provides a convenient charging experience for e-drivers.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Kalyana Sivagnanam, Group CEO of Petromin said “QUANTRON has selected Electromin as its distribution partner for the QUANTRON QARGO 4 EV light truck in KSA. Naturally, we are open to adding other QUANTRON products.

In time, this agreement will be extended to include other emission-free products, based on market suitability and requirements. This is the start of a bigger partnership as we are also exploring other avenues of mutual interest to strengthen this alliance. At Petromin, we strongly believe in sustainability and are guided by our principles of responsible corporate citizenship. Two years ago, we embarked on an exciting journey with an ambitious goal to transform our historical and successful company from primarily a premier lubricant manufacturer and operator of the largest network of quick service facilities to a world class automotive technology, advanced mobility, and avant-garde transportation solutions company. As part of that journey, we introduced Electromin, a technology-driven, turnkey e-mobility solutions provider that is now leading the electrification of the Kingdom and GCC.”

Michael Perschke, CEO of Quantron AG, commented on the strategic partnership with Electromin: “QUANTRON is a very successful player in Europe because we are technology-independent and offer our customers BEV and FCEV solutions that support them on their way to becoming a provider of zero-emission transport solutions. Recently, at the IAA in Hanover, we presented the QUANTRON QHM FCEV, a European H2 range champion with up to 116 kg of hydrogen on board.”

Andreas Haller, CEO and founder of QUANTRON added: “We have been looking for international growth opportunities and Saudi Arabia is one of our key markets. This is how we became aware of Electromin and the Petromin Corporation and found many parallels in strategy and vision. That’s why we decided to join forces. We look forward to building together unique competencies for zero-emission solutions in KSA.”

QUANTRON makes a dedicated contribution to the transformation of the commercial vehicle sector and celebrates the world premiere of trucks with hydrogen and electric powertrains

QUANTRON CEO Michael Perschke presents the QUANTRON strategy featuring future products and ecosystem solutions for hydrogen and battery-electric commercial vehicles as part of the VDA/IAA press workshop on 28th June 2022

At the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022 in Hanover, QUANTRON is presenting two new, emission-free heavy-duty trucks to a wider audience for the first time:

QUANTRON QHM BEV 50-392 as a 4×2 and 6×2 version for inter factory and distribution transport based on the MAN TG3, TGS & TGX

World premiere of the QUANTRON FCEV EU Heavy Truck for heavy-duty and long-distance use with Ballard Power H2 fuel cells and integrated e-axle from a leading global powertrain specialist.

QUANTRON has received the world manufacturer identification number with the first letters “WCV” from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority whereby “CV” stands for “Commercial Vehicles”. As an OEM with a focus on cooperation with existing manufacturers, this underlines the company´s expertise for battery-electric solutions and hydrogen-electric drives in the commercial vehicle sector.

As part of the so-called Hydrogen Offensive, QUANTRON offers 360-degree solutions for customers through QaaS (Quantron-as-a-Service). Here, the main focus is placed on TCO optimisation. From 2024 onwards, QUANTRON expects trucks with H2 powertrains to achieve cost parity with diesel engines in dedicated markets.

The focus of the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022 in Hanover in September is on the transformation of the commercial vehicle sector in the move towards emission-free drives. At the international press workshop organised by the VDA in Frankfurt today, the industry provided initial insights regarding where companies stand and what contributions they will have to make.

Michael Perschke, CEO of Quantron AG, outlined preliminary information about the vehicles as well as the company’s planned developments during the press workshop.

Quantron AG, a specialist in sustainable passenger and goods transport, provides its customers with battery and hydrogen-electric mobility solutions which are tailored to meet their respective individual needs, depending on the required area of application.

QUANTRON is presenting two new vehicles from the heavy-duty sector: a hydrogen-powered FCEV truck for long-distance transports in Europe and the all-electric QUANTRON QHM BEV 50-392.

All-electric QUANTRON QHM BEV 50-392 heavy-duty truck

The all-electric QUANTRON QHM BEV 50-392 based on the MAN TG3 (TGS & TGX) is new in the Quantron AG portfolio. The heavy truck can already be ordered by customers and is ideally suited for factory and distribution operations thanks to its low-noise and emission-free drive.

The QUANTRON QHM BEV 50-392 is available in different configurations as a 4×2 and 6×2.

It has a range of up to 350 km with a high-voltage 392 kWh battery and can be charged with power outputs of up to 350 kW. The first customers include companies that focus on sustainability and new technologies such as the waste disposal and logistics companies, Ansorge and DORR.

World´s first: QUANTRON heavy-duty EU truck with fuel cell technology

As a world first, Quantron AG is releasing details on the FCEV truck for the first time. The vehicle was developed as part of a strategic partnership with the world’s leading hydrogen expert, Ballard Power Systems, and features an integrated E-axle from a global Tier 1 propulsion leader.

The FCEV truck will be available from the second quarter of 2023 onwards. The unique selling points, which are best-in-class in the existing competitive segment, include a range of up to 700 km, uncompromising suitability for everyday use with a cabin which provides drivers with overnight accommodation during long journeys as well as the option of using ISO standard trailers. The FCEV truck will feature a hydrogen tank capacity well exceeding 50 kg stored H2.

Both vehicles along with many other commercial vehicles from Quantron AG are financially supported and receive incentives in Germany with up to 80% of the additional costs covered through the government programme for the purchase of commercial vehicles with alternative drives. Applications for this can be submitted beginning from 29th June 2022.

In this context, QUANTRON has received the world manufacturer number with the initials “WCV” (“W” as standard for Germany, “C” for commercial, “V” for vehicle) from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). QUANTRON thus meets all the requirements of an OEM but will act more as a partner on an equal level in cooperation with manufacturers for both battery-electric and hydrogen-electric solutions.

Thanks to their low-noise and zero-emission drives, all-electric vehicles are ideal for inner-city passenger and goods transport. Green hydrogen is the most efficient sustainable fuel solution for long-distance and heavy-duty operations with high payloads.

As part of its hydrogen offensive, Quantron AG is further expanding its 360-degree ecosystem Quantron-as-a-Service (QaaS). In future, QUANTRON wants to realise the production of green hydrogen and sustainable electricity and provide hydrogen filling stations and charging options.

Through investment subsidies and tax benefits, the price of hydrogen per kilometre will correspond to the price of diesel per kilometre as early as 2024. In the following years, the kilometres driven using a hydrogen-powered drive will become even cheaper than diesel due to the increasing diesel CO2 tax and financing costs.
