Audi Q4 e-tron details

From the redesigned interior with its leading-edge digital stage architecture, to its intuitive controls and abundance of space, the new Q4 e-tron significantly raises the bar. With sharper exterior styling and new lighting features, it is available in both SUV and Sportback body styles in both rear-wheel and quattro all-wheel drive. The new models further elevate the premium, compact all-electric Q4 e-tron range, while also delivering up to $20,000 enhanced overall value for customers.

New Q4 e-tron models introduce fresh styling and interior design

The new  models introduce fresh styling and interior design as well as a raft of new technology, connectivity and equipment that includes greater efficiency, driver assistance and safety features. A new 150kW model featuring rear-wheel drive now represents the starting point for the range, starting at $71,650* for both the SUV and Sportback models.

A more powerful quattro model priced from $81,650* gives customers even more power and performance as well as sharper handling characteristics thanks to quattro all-wheel drive. Keen pricing across the range also enables customers to choose Audi’s premium all-electric offering while still availing themselves of current federal government incentives for electric vehicles.

New Audi Q4 e-tron 150kW

The new Audi Q4 e-tron 150kW model represents the new entry point to the Q4 e-tron range. Despite the addition of new equipment and technology across the board, keen pricing sees the entry model Q4 e-tron available in both SUV and Sportback configurations for the same price of $71,650* which also allows customers to access the Federal Government’s EV incentives.

With a single motor driving the rear wheels, the new Q4 e-tron delivers 150kW and 350Nm of torque – providing ample performance for both the cut and thrust of city driving and highway touring. Its 63 kWh battery (59 kWh net) features enhanced charging performance that supports DC fast charging of up to 160 kW, allowing for charging from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 27 minutes.

Exterior features

The Q4 e-tron rides on 19-inch alloy wheels in a 5-V-spoke design finished in aero black with a gloss, turned finish. Lighting is state-of-the-art with Matrix  LED headlights with digital DRLs, while exterior mirrors are heated, auto-dimming and folding as well as featuring kerb-side function for parking on the passenger side. Convenience key allows keyless entry and start, while the electric rear tailgate with gesture control makes opening the rear storage seamless even when your arms are full.

Roof rails in aluminium are standard features on SUV models, while contrasting paint finish in black is likewise a standard feature and wing mirror housings are finished in the vehicle’s body colour. In terms of body colours, there are six in all, with Pebble grey (solid colour), Mythos black (metallic) and Glacier white (metallic) all existing colours and Tambora grey (metallic), Plasma blue (metallic) and Sage green (metallic) all new to the mix.

Interior features

Inside the Q4 e-tron features a leather twin-spoke multifunction steering wheel complete with shift paddles for energy recuperation. Seating is leather-appointed with heating and electric adjustment for the front seats as well as four-way electric lumbar support. The driver’s seat also gets memory function which includes the exterior mirrors. Three-zone climate control is standard equipment, along with the ambient lighting package plus with dynamic interaction light, while inlays and door sill trims are in brushed aluminium, with the front also illuminated.

Technology and infotainment

The Q4 e-tron also features the very latest in in-car technology and infotainment. Wth the 12.8” MMI navigation with MMI touch response and an 11.9” Audi virtual cockpit plus placing all important in-car information right before the driver. Also, standard inclusions are the Audi sound system with eight speakers and subwoofer, as well as DAB+ digital radio.

The Audi smartphone interface supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While dual cooled inductive charging pads for mobile phones have been included as standard equipment. The Audi Q4 e-tron quattro, available as both an SUV and Sportback, takes the Q4 e-tron to the next level. Its new electric motors have been designed to deliver greater range and torque. With a substantial output of 250kW, that sees torque to the front wheels at 134Nm and a further 545Nm to the rear. That gives the quattro models extraordinary acceleration to 100km/h from standstill in just 5.4 seconds And results in a WLTP range of 494 kilometres for the SUV and 509 kilometres for the Sportback version.

The maximum DC charging capacity for the 82 kWh battery (77 kWh net) has been increased from 175 kW to 185 kW. Meaning that a charge from 10 percent to 80 percent is the same 27 minutes as its rear-wheel drive sibling. Despite the larger battery – and the battery can also be automatically or manually preconditioned for optimal efficiency.

The electric quattro allows the driver to take full advantage of the additional power output. While progressive steering and suspension with selectable damper control further add to the handling characteristics.

Additional features over standard Audi Q4 e-tron

Over and above the standard specification of the Q4 e-tron, the quattro  models are differentiated by a full S line exterior package. Made up of new front and rear bumpers. As well as a Singleframe front grille finished in the vehicle’s body colour with black mask and matt silver aluminium inlays. Larger 20-inch Audi Sport wheels in a five-arm aero design and with a silk matte grey gloss turned finish further build on the vehicle’s road presence.

Inside the S line treatment continues with the famous ’S’ emblem present on

• the leather appointed Sport front seats,
• door sills and on
• the three-spoke multi-function steering wheel which is finished in leather.

Headlining is finished in sporty black while the pedals are finished in stainless steel in keeping with the model’s sporting character. The safety and driver assistance package is also further enhanced over the entry model. With the addition of Audi drive select and the augmented reality head-up display. Which projects key driving information right into the driver’s field of vision.

Further adding to the premium technology offering, an optional 12-inch passenger side screen is also available. Bringing flagship-level digital innovation to the compact premium EV segment. The screen is the largest currently offered in an Audi and yet is seamlessly integrated into the sweeping dash arrangement. Giving the front passenger access to navigation, media and entertainment functions. So as not to distract the driver, the screen is masked from the driver while the Q4 e-tron is in motion.

Audi has reimagined the RS 5 from the ground up.

The latest RS 5 combines unmistakable Audi Sport DNA with advanced electrified performance, delivering a new dimension of driving capability, premium performance, and everyday usability.

Now offered in both a sleek Sedan and a muscular Avant body style for the first time for the nameplate. The new RS 5 expands its appeal while maintaining the core attributes that define the RS portfolio – precision, performance and progressive technology.

With increased output, enhanced chassis dynamics and a new-generation quattro system, the RS 5 represents the next step in the evolution of Audi’s high-performance vehicles.

Audi RS 5 PHEV – A new dimension of performance

At the heart of the new Audi RS 5 is a newly developed performance plug-in hybrid system. Pairing a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 TFSI engine with a powerful electric motor.

The V6 produces 375 kW, while the electric motor contributes an additional 130 kW and 460 Nm, delivering a combined system output of 470 kW and 825 Nm.

Compared to the previous generation RS 5, that’s an increase of 139 kW or power and an additional 225 Nm of torque. Reinforcing the RS 5’s transformation into Audi Sport’s most advanced mid‑size performance model.

The electrified drivetrain enables the RS 5 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. While also offering an all-electric driving range of 78 kilometres (WLTP)*.

The integration of hybrid technology not only enhances outright performance but also improves efficiency and responsiveness. With the electric motor providing immediate torque delivery and supporting advanced torque vectoring for heightened driving dynamics.

The 25.9 kWh battery features enhanced cell chemistry, enabling consistent power delivery even at low states of charge and in extreme temperatures.

In RS Sport and RS Torque Rear Audi Drive Select modes, the battery is actively cooled to maintain optimal performance, ensuring sustained dynamic capability during high-load driving.

Charging is supported via a 11 kW AC system, enabling a full charge in approximately 2.5 hours, providing customers with the flexibility to utilise electric driving for everyday journeys or quiet arrivals or departures, while retaining the full performance potential of the RS drivetrain for the open road.

RS 5 quattro drivetrain with Dynamic Torque Control

The all‑new RS 5 introduces a next‑generation quattro drivetrain with Dynamic Torque Control, centred around a world‑first rear transaxle developed specifically for the hybrid drive.

The system employs electromechanical torque vectoring via a water‑cooled, permanent‑magnet 400‑volt electric motor delivering 8 kW and 40 Nm, which acts as a high‑voltage actuator within the rear transaxle.

The actuator actively redistributes torque differences between the rear wheels within milliseconds. This enables exceptionally precise torque control, significantly enhancing agility, stability and cornering performance.

Unlike conventional mechanical systems, quattro with Dynamic Torque Control operates across a wide range of dynamic scenarios. Including off‑throttle and under braking, independently of drivetrain torque, ensuring consistently balanced and confidence‑inspiring handling.

A redesigned centre differential with integrated preload function ensures continuous torque distribution, delivering sharper response during rapid throttle transitions. This is complemented by a new rear differential and optimised axle coupling, resulting in a driving experience that is both highly controlled and exceptionally engaging.

RS 5 features a new boost function

Further enhancing performance, the RS 5 features a new boost function activated via the steering wheel, delivering up to 10 seconds of maximum system output.

Designed for overtaking and dynamic acceleration, the system selects the optimal gear and opens the exhaust valves to deliver both immediate response and an intensified acoustic experience.

Suspension, wheels and brakes

The RS 5 benefits from a newly developed RS sport suspension featuring twin-valve damper technology, delivering improved body control while maintaining ride comfort.

The adaptive dampers automatically adjust their damping characteristics in real time, responding to driving style, road conditions and the selected Audi drive select mode.

The system reduces pitch and roll under dynamic driving conditions, enhancing stability and confidence-inspiring precision across a wide range of surfaces.

RS 5 features forged 21-inch alloy wheels which are slightly wider at the rear that help to increase the contact patch and enable higher lateral forces, improving cornering grip and overall handling precision. Audi e-tron – Audi joins the increasing number of prestige brands with a fully electric offer. Both the e-tron and e-tron Sportback are arriving soon in Australia.

Available to order online from June 19^th from audi.com.au and arriving in September for first deliveries, the e-tron pricing starts from $137,700 MLP* through to $169,950 MLP*

Audi e-tron models

There are two body variants coming, the normal e-tron as well as the e-tron Sportback, which looks very sleek and stylish.

In line with the new designation for power bands that Audi uses, there are two battery options, the e-tron 50 quattro as well as the more powerful e-tron 55 quattro.

Both the e-tron 50 and 55 come in the normal style as well as the Sportback. To add to the initial offer there are feature packed limited number First Edition models in both styles in the e-tron 55 power band.

Audi e-tron technology highlights

Firstly there is a clever all electric quattro system that oscillates between 2wd and quattro as the need arises to maximise economy and safety. It is a three mode selective system.

Secondly the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback utilise an electric motor on the front and rear axles, and one of the fastest-charging automotive batteries on the market.

At the heart of the Audi e-tron is its powertrain and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, consisting of pouch cells that store the electrical energy.

More traditional technology in the form of MMI interface system, Bluetooth Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, full suite of Audi connect plus functions, with extended features for the e-tron, excellent Haptic and audio feedback on the touchscreen, Audi virtual cockpit, wireless phone charging and a host of other features are a given.

One unique and seemingly clever piece if technology is the optional replacement of the side mirrors with more aerodynamic virtual exterior mirrors. Essentially a small digital camera that projects the rearward images through a high-resolution 7-inch OLED display at the base of the A-pillars.

Yep I’m going to have to see that one before I comment more.

While plugged in, the e-tron can be pre-conditioned for an upcoming journey by heating or cooling, controlled by the myAudi smartphone app.

Audi e-tron charging

Electric cars require a change in consumer behaviour. No longer is it good enough to stop in at the servo and top up if you need to. It requires a lot of planning and forethought to drive an electric car. Especially longer distances!

The ranges for the e-tron will help alleviate consumer range anxiety, as will the options for slow and express charging as outlined below.

Both models can be charged via a supplied 11kW AC home-charging kit (requires electrical infrastructure to support), or up to 150kW DC fast-charging (120kW for e-tron 50).

This fast-charging option is suitable for stopovers on long journeys, restoring 80% of charge in just 30 minutes, or a full charge in only 45 minutes.

The 11kW AC home-charging solution can charge the e tron 55 variants from empty to full in 8.5 hours, and the e-tron 50 variants in 6 hours.

For charging at home, the Audi e-tron offers a comprehensive ‘home check’ consultation and installation process in partnership with JETCharge.

Audi e-tron customer experience

So as a consumer you are shelling out somewhere between $137,700 MLP* to possibly way north of $180,000 by the time you add option packs and the obligatory government and other charges.

I’m not sure about you but if it’s my hard earned dollars being parted with for the e-tron, I’m wanting something special as a customer as part of the experience. Well Audi delivers!

Audi Australia is offering all e-tron vehicles with

• A comprehensive customer offer that includes a 6-year subscription to the Chargefox charging network,
• Servicing and roadside assistance for the first 6 years of ownership,
• An 8-year/160,000km drivetrain warranty
• Dealer wide servicing capability and
• Owners will also get a free loan e-tron while theirs is in for service.

Audi is a founding partner of the Chargefox network, and the subscription provides e-tron owners with access to all ultra-rapid, and selected fast and standard, chargers within the Chargefox network.

I’m also guessing if you want an electric car you want to know the electricity that powers it is also environmentally friendly. All ultra-rapid chargers are powered by 100% renewable energy.

All e-tron vehicles are produced at a new carbon-neutral Audi production facility in Brussels, in Belgium.

Audi e-tron performance and range

The Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback 55 quattro variants store up to 95KWh of energy (divided up into 36 battery modules), for a WLTP range of over 400km.

The 50 quattro variants store up to 71 kWh of energy (27 modules) for a WLTP range in excess of 300km.

If speed is your thing then the e-tron possibly isn’t the car for you. However they are reasonable performers.

The e-tron 55 quattro variants provides 300kW of power and 664Nm of torque. The 0-100km/h sprint is despatched in 5.7 seconds, with a governed top speed of 200 km/h.

The e-tron 50 quattro variants, with 230kW/540Nm, still offer strong performance, reaching 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

Intelligent energy recuperation is key to the long-range capability of the Audi e-tron.

Recovery of up to 220kW/300Nm while braking contributes up to 30% of its range, while clever thermal management of the battery contributes up to 15%.

I’m not sure why anyone would want to tow with an electric vehicle, but the e-tron stands out from competitors with a towing capacity of up to 1.8 tonnes effortlessly, thanks to the torque delivery of the electric motors.

Audi e-tron Style and features

e-tron has been awarded a 5-star ANCAP safety rating. Some other highlights include 360-degree cameras, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic assist, intersection assist, collision avoidance assist, turn assist, exit warning and tyre pressure monitor.

I have to admit to really looking forward to taking a drive in the e-tron. It seems not only a stylish vehicle, packed with all the goodies you expect, but also takes the electric vehicle another step forward. Bring on September!
