Volvo Car Australia today announced the pricing for its XC40 Recharge Pure Electric compact luxury SUV ahead of the quarter three Australian launch.

The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is Volvo’s first all-electric vehicle and reinforces the Swedish company’s commitment to electrifying its entire car range by 2025, with full electric or plug-in hybrid variants.

In Australia the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will be available in one luxury specification at $76,990 MRRP. For this price buyers will get a beautifully designed, all-wheel drive SUV with an impressive 400+ km range and packed with the latest safety and infotainment features.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric

The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is powered by twin 150 kW electric motors on the front and rear axles which provides all wheel drive and an impressive power output of 300 kW and 660Nm fed by a 78kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the floor.

The electric motors power it from zero to 100kmp/h in just 4.9 seconds, making the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric one of the most powerful cars Volvo has produced. When fully charged the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has a projected range of up to 418 kilometres which makes it a perfect vehicle for the daily commute plus more. The vehicle is also designed for fast charging from zero to 80% in around 40 minutes.

Inside, the emphasis is on Scandinavian minimalist design using aluminium accents and contrast stitching in the luxury leather accented seats. Unlike other Volvo XC40 models, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has no start-stop button. Once it is unlocked, you simply sit in the seat, buckle up, and drive off.

The Clean Zone multi climate system removes harmful outside pollutants and particles from the cabin to deliver Scandinavian-fresh air on the inside.

Fully integrated Google

The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is the first vehicle in Australia to come with a fully integrated Google Android Infotainment operating system, with Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store built in.

Other standard features include Harmon Kardon Premium Sound System, 20″ 5V Spoke Matt Graphite Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels, heated seats and a swag of safety features, including City Safety, Collision Warning and Mitigation, and Parking Assist.

The vehicle has the segment leading five-year unlimited kilometre warranty. A three-year 100,000-kilometre service wear and tear plan which includes wiper blades, brake pads and brake discs. Eight-year roadside assistance and an eight-year battery warranty. Volvo Cars App allows for direct access to Volvo Cars Call Centres. Customers have an option to request for an insurance quote through Volvo Insurance making this a bundled offer.

Volvo XC 40 – Typically ordinary hybrid vehicles are a petrol engine with some help from an electric motor who’s batteries are charged by the petrol engine or when slowing down using regenerative braking.

But Volvo has gone the next step with its XC40 small SUV by offering a plug-in hybrid variant.

This plug-in system allows a vehicle to use only batteries for about 40 kms. This means that you can do a lot of your local short trips on electric drive without producing local pollution.

https://www.anyauto.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/BTW-3485-Apr-30.mp3

The 1.5 litre three cylinder turboed petrol engine can come into play under heavy acceleration and when the battery runs low.

You don’t have to charge it at all, but, of course, you will not get the fuel economy benefits if you don’t.

The base model non-hybrid is listed at $47,000 but the top of the line plug-in hybrid is $65,000 to both figures you must add on-road costs.

Motoring Minutes are heard around Australia every day on over 50 radio channels through the Torque Radio network. Motoring Minute has an average daily audience of over 150,000 listeners. Motoring Minute is also broadcast as part of Overdrive Radio Program, which is broadcast through the Community Radio Network across Australia and has a weekly audience of over 450,000.
