Terramar – CUPRA is entering the next stage of its significant new model offensive in Australia, with the all-new Terramar mild hybrid and turbocharged petrol medium SUV range arriving in July at a stunningly sharp price.
Named for the spiritual birthplace of CUPRA, the banked Terramar racetrack in Sitges, this sporty SUV represents a huge shift for the CUPRA brand into the fastest-growing segment in Australia.
CUPRA Terramar Range
The Terramar joins the just-launched Tavascan fully-electric medium SUV, together providing customers with the choice of a mild hybrid electric vehicle (mHEV), performance turbo petrol or a battery electric vehicle (BEV) in the medium SUV class. In 2026, a Terramar plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) expand the options further.
The Terramar S mHEV and performance flagship VZ arrive in July, with the V following in September and the VZe PHEV next year. All continue the consistent CUPRA focus on style and design, positioning that is neither luxury nor mainstream, and a clear focus on the driver and driving dynamics.
The Terramar S mHEV delivers superb value from $53,990# or a national $58,490* drive away price, while the Terramar V performance petrol steps up the straight line speed from $61,990# or a national $66,490* drive away.
The S and V are fully equipped with:
- either 18-inch ‘Atomic’ black and silver alloy wheels (S) or 19-inch ‘Cosmic’ black and copper alloy wheels (V),
- smart entry and start,
- power tailgate with kick sensor,
- 360-degree top view camera,
- 10.25” digital cockpit instrumentation,
- 15” touchscreen infotainment with navigation,
- head-up display (HUD),
- wireless smartphone mirroring,
- wireless smartphone charging,
- power adjustable and heated front seats with driver’s seat and mirror memory,
- heated steering wheel with drive profile button giving quick access to all drive modes,
- tri-zone climate control air conditioning,
- a full driver assist suite including semi-autonomous Travel Assist and
- slide-adjustable / 40:20:40 split folding rear seats.
- The Terramar V also adds an upgraded rear brake package.
Powertrain MHEV
Powering the Terramar S is a front-wheel drive, 110kW and 250Nm 1.5L turbo petrol powertrain which adds 48V mild-hybrid tech to reduce fuel consumption and emissions while elevating responsiveness, with combined cycle fuel consumption from 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres.
The Terramar V steps up the straight-line speed with a 150kW and 320Nm 2.0L turbo petrol powertrain, plus the additional traction of all-wheel drive, with 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds and 7.2L/100km combined.
Both S and V can be further optioned with a $1,600 Leather & Sound Package featuring deep burgundy leather-appointed trim and a 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system.
Both features are standard on the Terramar VZ, priced from $68,200# or a national $73,490* drive away.
The VZ further adds
- 20-inch ‘Hadron’ black and copper alloy wheels,
- Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) adaptive suspension,
- an upgraded brake package,
- Matrix Ultra cascading high-beam LED headlights and
- a CUPRA drive profile with customisable engine sound modelling.
Befitting its flagship status, the VZ delivers a 195kW and 400Nm 2.0L turbo petrol engine and all-wheel drive with 0-100km/h in just 5.9sec. A stand-alone option for the VZ is high-performance Akebono front brakes at $4,200.
All variants can be further optioned with a panoramic sunroof ($2,000). Premium paint colours Dark Void or Graphene Grey ($620). Glacial White, Fiord Blue, Timanfaya Grey, Midnight Black and Cosmos Blue are standard.
CUPRA aiming for the medium SUV segment in Australia.
CUPRA Australia Head of Product, Jeff Shafer, said the Barcelona challenger brand is gearing up to take CUPRA upmarket and into the medium SUV segment in Australia.
“The CUPRA Formentor has long been our best-seller. So it’s safe to say we know how much Australians love a sporty-looking yet practical SUV. With the CUPRA Terramar, CUPRA is able to offer a significantly larger vehicle that caters to both families and those with active lifestyles, but retaining that signature Catalan flair,” Mr Shafer said.
“Customers can also dial up their level of powertrain spice. From efficient yet responsive mild hybrid to hot hatchback-like performance from the 400Nm flagship turbo engine. Later, the range will be joined by another turbo four alongside a PHEV offering more than 100km of electric-only range as well.
