BMW iX4 details
The new BMW iX4 is planned to arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2027 with two variants, each featuring a dual electric motor all-wheel-drive system. The BMW iX4 40 xDrive will be priced from $103, 900, while the BMW iX4 50 xDrive will be available from $119,900.
The range-topping BMW iX4 M60 xDrive will join the line-up later in 2027, adding M-specific all-wheel-drive technology, chassis enhancements, distinctive design elements and digital features.
Neue Klasse design with SUV Coupé proportions
The BMW iX4 is the third model in the Neue Klasse family and introduces the brand’s next-generation design language to the electric SUV coupé segment.
Its long wheelbase, short overhangs and flowing roofline create an elegant silhouette, while a pronounced rear spoiler, sculpted surfaces and slim horizontal light units emphasise width and sporting presence. A drag coefficient of 0.23 contributes to aerodynamic efficiency and long-distance capability.
At the front, the BMW kidney grille and twin headlights merge into a single graphic element, creating a distinctive interplay of light and geometry that defines the Neue Klasse design language.
The standard M Sport package enhances the vehicle’s dynamic appearance with 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, M Sport brakes with blue callipers and model-specific exterior and interior appointments.
A full-length panoramic sunroof with climate comfort glazing is fitted as standard across the range. The dedicated electric vehicle architecture also maximises interior space, offering generous comfort for rear passengers, a luggage compartment of 490 litres that expands to 1,600 litres with the rear seats folded, and an additional 58 litres of storage beneath the bonnet.

Sixth-generation BMW eDrive: more range, faster charging
The BMW iX4 introduces the full benefits of sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. Its 800-volt electrical architecture, newly developed cylindrical battery cells and highly efficient electric motors deliver a step forward in performance, efficiency, range and charging speed.
The BMW iX4 50 xDrive supports ultra-fast DC charging at up to 400 kW, enabling up to 387 kilometres of WLTP driving range to be added in just 10 minutes under ideal conditions.
Charging from 10 to 80 per cent can be completed in as little as 21 minutes at a suitable high-power charging station.
The BMW iX4 40 xDrive supports DC charging at up to 300 kW, while AC charging of up to 22 kW is available across the range.

BMW Panoramic iDrive featuring BMW Operating System X
The cabin introduces BMW Panoramic iDrive with BMW Operating System X, representing a new generation of driver-focused interaction. The system brings together BMW Panoramic Vision, an optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display, a 17.9-inch Central Display and a new multifunction sports steering wheel with illuminated shy-tech controls.
BMW Panoramic Vision projects relevant information across the lower section of the windscreen, positioning key driving content in the driver’s natural field of view. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, while the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant supports natural-language interaction and proactive suggestions.
Heart of Joy: a new dimension in Sheer Driving Pleasure
At the centre of the BMW iX4 driving experience is the Heart of Joy high-performance computer, one of four specialised “superbrains” in the Neue Klasse electronics architecture. It integrates control of the drive system, braking, recuperation and steering-related functions and operates up to ten times faster than previous systems.
The result is more precise and composed handling, smoother transitions between acceleration and deceleration, and highly effective energy recuperation. In everyday driving, up to 98 per cent of braking can be achieved through recuperation without use of the friction brakes.
The flat high-voltage battery contributes to a low centre of gravity, while near-perfect weight distribution, a long wheelbase and model-specific chassis tuning support agility, stability and comfort.
Sustainability considered across the life cycle
The BMW Group has applied a holistic approach to sustainability across the development, supply chain, production, use phase and recycling of the BMW iX4. Based on preliminary forecasts, approximately 30 per cent of the vehicle is manufactured using secondary materials.
The BMW iX4 will be produced at BMW Group Plant Debrecen in Hungary, which operates using electricity sourced exclusively from renewable energy during normal production and without the use of fossil fuels.
